Background of the Study
Workplace culture encompasses the values, beliefs, attitudes, and practices that shape the behavior of employees within an organization (Asante & Yusuf, 2023). An organization's culture plays a critical role in influencing employee engagement, as it affects how employees perceive their work environment, interact with colleagues, and align with organizational goals. Nestlé Nigeria, a leading multinational food and beverage company, has long been recognized for its commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture that enhances employee engagement and organizational performance (Olanrewaju & Folake, 2023).
In Niger State, Nestlé Nigeria operates several manufacturing facilities, where the company employs a diverse workforce. However, despite the company's global reputation, there is limited research on how its workplace culture influences employee engagement at its Niger State operations. Understanding this relationship is crucial, as employee engagement is linked to higher productivity, reduced turnover, and greater job satisfaction (Adesola & Temidayo, 2024). This study seeks to explore how Nestlé's workplace culture impacts employee engagement, with particular focus on the practices and values that contribute to a motivated and committed workforce in Niger State.
Statement of the Problem
Although Nestlé Nigeria has made significant strides in promoting a strong organizational culture, the effectiveness of these cultural practices in fostering employee engagement at the Niger State facilities remains unclear. Inadequate engagement can lead to low morale, reduced productivity, and higher turnover rates (Uchenna & Ogbonna, 2023). Understanding the relationship between workplace culture and employee engagement in this context is essential for enhancing employee satisfaction and aligning the workforce with the company’s goals.
